Scott River Watershed Council

Policy of SRWC Membership and Decision Authority

PARTICIPANTS OF THE SCOTT RIVER WATERSHED COUNCIL

 

Any resident of the Scott River Watershed or individual with affected interest may be a contributing member of this organization.  Specific watershed interests include:

 

1.                  Business

2.                  Community at large

3.                  County Government

4.                  Environmental

5.                  Fisheries

6.                  Irrigation/Livestock

7.                  Municipal

8.                  Recreation/Tourism

9.                  Public Lands

10.              Small Landowner

11.              Timber

12.              Tribal

13.              Wildlife

 

 

Any employee of a government agency operating within the Scott River Watershed may serve as an advisory member.  Advisory members my not vote on action items, but they may participate in all other activities and functions.  The foundational groups with advisory members of this organization are the:

 

            1.         California Department of Fish and Game;

            2.         United States Forest Service;

            3.         California Department of Forestry;

            4.         Natural Resource Conservation Service;

            5.         North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board;

            6.         United States Fish & Wildlife;

            7.         University of California Extension Service.

 

 

 

VOTING MEMBERSHIP

 

A voting member is any designated representative of a watershed interest working within the Scott River Watershed, or a community member at large.  Voting membership can be obtained by the following:

 

            1.         A written nomination, submitted to the Council by the recognized interest or agency; or

            2.         Regular attendance and participation at committee and Council meetings.

           

The Council Coordinator and representatives in an advisory capacity have no voting privileges.

 

A list of current Voting members will be available through the Council Coordinator.

 

All action items before the Council shall be voted on by the voting membership of the Council, and shall pass through consensus.  If consensus can not be attained, the matter shall be immediately directed to the Executive Committee for action. 

 

Voting will only take place when a quorum of the Council and/or the Executive Committee is present.
